Home Sweet Home

I was born on a farm near Lubbock Texas. I live in a wooden coop with my family of 29 chickens. They look just like me, white and fluffy.  At night we go up a ladder to the coop door. Inside the coop there are 12 apartments called nesting boxes. This is where we are supposed to lay our eggs. We haven't started laying eggs yet because we are too young. During the day we stay in the run. A run is a cage made of wire that protects us from predators. In the afternoons Calvin opens the door to the run so we can run free. We like to scratch in the dirt and peck at bugs. Just before dark Calvin walks us back into the run for the night. We do have roommates, but I'll talk about them next time. Well, chick you later.

Buster Chicken

Hey there! I'm Buster, and I live on a farm. I am a chicken, but can you guess what kind? I'm a White Bearded Silkie. Silkies are special because we have five feathered toes, black skin, and black bones. Yes, even though my feathers are white, I have black skin and bones. I can barely see because I have really fluffy feathers that cover my eyes. I have a boy named Calvin. He loves me very much. He put a black band on my leg so he will know who I am. Until next time, chick ya later!
